Royal Canin offers free registration for 7 young vets
EVECCS is gratefully announcing the free registration for the main program of 7 young veterinarians paid for by Royal Canin.
With this generous contribution Royal Canin is clearly promoting the progression and spreading of emergency and critical care amongst
younger veterinary health professionals in Europe. The selection of veterinarians younger than 35 years of age will be done on a first
ask/first serve basis. Those entitled to this free registration will have to send an email to freemainprogram.eveccs@gmail.com.
Only those chosen will be notified with an email and receive a reimbursement of their main program registration-fee (which does not include
precongress-day or social program).

News from Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care
To EVECCS Members:
It is with great pleasure that I write to you to share some news. Recently at the International Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Symposium held in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, the editorial board of the Journal met and discussed many issues. During our discussion we celebrated the first anniversary of being the official journal of the European Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society. We also talked about ways that we could strengthen our relationship with your society and better serve your needs. Both the publisher (Wiley-Blackwell) and the editorial board embraced several ideas that I’d like to share.
I’m pleased to announce to you that Dr. Nadja Sigrist has been chosen as the European submissions editor for the Journal. Dr. Sigrist will be responsible for reviewing all submissions to the Journal from Europe. She will choose reviewers that can evaluate the work and make a recommendation to me regarding publication of the work. She will also be responsible for building ties to your scientific community and encouraging important work to be submitted to the Journal. I am excited about Dr. Sigrist’s appointment and look forward to working with her to make the Journal stronger while supporting EVECCS.
Next, we are interested in the work you are doing and would like to increase the number of submissions from Europe. If you are interested in submitting a manuscript, please visit the Journal’s homepage at:
http://www.blackwellpublishing.com/vec
There, you will find the latest version of author guidelines and other important information about submission of manuscripts to the Journal. The Journal accepts manuscripts electronically at:
http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/jvecc
To begin you will need to create an account and I suggest viewing the online tutorial regarding the electronic submission process.
Lastly, the Journal’s publisher, Wiley-Blackwell, has graciously agreed to sponsor a “How to Get Published” seminar at the upcoming EVECCS Congress in Sweden. I am very excited to be able to present information that I hope will be practical and interesting for anyone who would like to consider publishing in the Journal. And I am looking forward to meeting as many of you as possible at the Congress. Together we can steer our Journal’s growth so that it represents your Society well. I look forward to your ideas and enthusiasm!
Warm regards,
Shane Bateman, DVM, DVSc, DACVECC
Editor-in-Chief, Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care

Membership renewal
Dear EVECCS members,
2008 has recently started and promises to be a very important year for EVECCS. And YOU can take part in it just by renewing your membership.
You know that we have been working closely with VECCS for a year. The Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (JVECC) is the OFFICIAL JOURNAL of both societies, and by renewing your membership you will automatically have the right to receive this wonderful journal, 6 times a year.
Also by renewing the membership, you will have the opportunity to take part in EVECCS elections, to be held at the next EVECCS General Assembly, and be directly involved in the running of the Society.
And finally, by being a member you can attend the next EVECCS Gothenburg meeting at a reduced price.
Do not wait any longer to take advantage of all these benefits. We hope we can count on your support not only for 2008, but for all the years to come.

Spring AVA meeting update
Registration for the Bristol AVA meeting is now open - please go to the website http://www.avaspring2008.org to download the registration document.
Registration is cheaper for AVA / ECVAA and EVECCS members - it is advantageous to join AVA rather than attend as a non-member of one of these organisations. The cost is also less is you register before 15th February.
The meeting for supervisors will be held on Wednesday 9th April @ 6 pm immediately before the welcome reception which is in the conference hotel.
The training day is open to all as it is a lecture based programme rather than small group discussions. We are keen to encourage veterinary practioners and veterinary nurses to attend - veterinary nurses are also given a preferential rate to attend the training day.
Can we please remind everyone that we are keen to receive abstracts, the deadline is Friday 18th January.
