1. Ventilation and monitoring

This lab will be an introduction to intermittent positive pressure ventilation,
but will also touch on advanced ventilatory therapy and long term ventilation in the ECC-setting. Monitoring includes arterial and central venous blood pressure, puls-oximetry, capnography and arterial blood gas analysis. The lab will start off with an hour and a half seminar followed by a three hour practical session with anaesthetized pigs with state of the art equipment. During the practical session complications such as hypotension, hypoventilation, pneumothorax and cardiopumonary arrest will be induced. The participant will be able to monitor and treat the complications. This wet lab is suitable for veterinarians and technichians working in the field of ECC and anaesthesia.

3. Interventional radiology and stenting

Interventional radiology is the use of fluoroscopy to access blood vessels and various lumens in order to deliver specific materials for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. This novel technique can be used to place tracheal stents in the acute or chronic setting in a dog with tracheal collapse. This lab will start with an hour and a half seminar that will present an overview of interventional radiology and the technique of tracheal stenting. The seminar will be followed by a two-three hour practical
session where participants get the chance to practice the placement of a tracheal stent in cadavers guided by fluoroscopy.
